DaRK EaRTH
Right at the confluence of Butoh, digital multimedia, and puppet theatre, the rule-breaking company NAKeD PUPPeTS presented DArK EArTH, a series of quirky and beautiful works inspired loosely on the Kabbalah that flirted with the forlorn intimacy of first encounters, the eroticism of power, and the ridiculous and touching aspects of courtship rituals, attraction, & longing.
In DArK EArTH, NAKeD PUPPeTS generated a stunning theatre of images, revealing the unfathomable character of the human soul using cutting-edge interactive digital soundscapes, "audience generated" lighting, digital projections, and live experimental puppetry.NAKeD PUPPeTS made history by creating the first interactive sound track for a puppet show during our preformances of DArK EArTH at the Bumbershoot Festival in 2006.
The show was conceived and directed by Ariel Goldberger, NAKeD PUPPeTS’ artistic director, and was performed as an ensemble by the members of the company at the time ( see under ARTISTS for Shawn Douglas, Mark Asbel gerth, Dan Luce, Cheetah von Tchudi, and Quinn Bivins, and Brandon Johnson) who collaborated in all aspects of its development by pushing the rules of experimental puppetry techniques and creating an original multimedia environment.
Dark Earth was made possible, in part, by a generous grant from the Jim Henson Foundation (see under Links).
This show is no longer part of our repertory, it has been "put to sleep". |
